1 Year In The Word

A Year In The Word

💥 WOW WHAT A YEAR! 365 DAYS 🔥Today, my life is a testimony to the radical, life-altering power of faith. I have witnessed a complete change because just one year ago, I was still struggling with 33 years of darkness a life as a drug addict and debt collector/enforcer, driven by chronic pain and abandonment. This is why the truth in

📖 Matthew 9:13 resonates so deeply: ‘For I have not come to call the righteous, but those who know they are sinners.’ That very message, the first verse that jumped off the page for me, had a profound effect.

📖 The Beginning of My JourneyOne year ago, I was gifted The One Year Bible In 365 Readings. The inscription from Pastor Luke Crompton held a message that set the tone for the journey to come:

✍️ Dear Fin,It’s been a real joy to journey with you on Alpha, thank you for being so open & honest. Here’s a verse I felt on my heart as I wrote this 📖1 Timothy 6:11-12 Fight the good fight mate. God bless you, Luke and all at CCC.

✅ A YEAR IN THE WORD: My dedication. In 365 days, I haven’t missed a single reading—I even studied it on the coach on the way home from the church Scarborough trip! Reading and studying the 66 books of the Bible confirmed my calling to live out the very encouragement I was given that day. “Fight The Good Fight” .

✅ Found Faith, Found Freedom—The MiracleThrough The Alpha Course at #ConnectCityChurchWakefield, I had a real-life encounter with the Holy Spirit. As my heart turned from stone to flesh, I saw two black spirits leave my body, and the emptiness was filled instantly. Relying on the promise in 📖 Acts 2:38 (“Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins”), this encounter did four things instantly:

⛔ It destroyed my drug addiction.

💊 It permanently healed the chronic, severe pain in my leg that had plagued me for over 20 years and fueled my daily crack use.

🙏 It removed cravings, proving that a relationship with God is truly a real and miraculous experience.

❤️ It filled me with the powerful love only God can give—it was oozing out of me.

✅ Got Baptised: 26th JanuaryBy Pastor Luke Crompton & Pastor Henry Drabble.📖 Galatians 3:27: “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”

✅ From Enforcer to EvangelistI transitioned from Enforcer to Evangelist, turning my past pain into purpose. After a lifetime of feeling unloved and even believing I had sold my soul, I launched the. COPE Christian Outreach Program Evangelism Ministry following the command in 📖 Matthew 28:19-20: “Make disciples of all nations.”

✅ Outreach & TestimonySince sharing my hard-hitting testimony, I’ve had the honor of sharing my story with over 700 people in different churches, outreach and home groups, and with hundreds more through street preaching. Online, my videos and website and social media have now reached over 100 thousand views. I am dedicated to giving hope to the vulnerable, the lost, the homeless, addicts, and victims of abuse, sharing the hope that saved my life.📖 Luke 8:39: “I’ve told all over town how much Jesus had done for me.”

✅ Family Support ForumMy amazing wife, Adele Dalton , who stood by me through 15 long, hard years of chaos, is now leading our Christian-Faith-Based Family Support Forum. I added this forum to my website because addiction doesn’t only affect the addict; it rips the whole family apart. It is a non-judgmental space for partners and family members of addicts who need support—because they are the ones who often suffer in silence and need enduring love.📖 1 Corinthians 13:7: This emphasizes enduring love.

✅ Becoming A Helper/Leader (It’s been busy!)I serve as a Helper/Leader.The COPE Outreach Ministry in 3 locations: Wakefield, Leeds and Barnsley.Spreading the good news. I also work with the church, helping on The Alpha Course, Church Welcome Lounge, CAP Care, Men’s Group, and previously at Church Ablaze Outreach, plus running our website: findalton.com. and several social media accounts.

📖 Romans 12:4-8: This work emphasizes the body of Christ and different gifts of service/leadership.After 365 days of reading and studying the Bible, this particular reading plan has finally drawn to a close. As I read this verse this morning, a huge smile came to my face:

📖 “You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect.”Hebrews 12:23It perfectly sums up everything I’ve learned and received this year.

🚀The Next Chapter: Shifting into Higher Gear! So, what’s next? For the past year, I’ve been cruising in second gear, but with a six-speed gearbox, it’s time to shift up and plan for bigger things. The Next Chapter: Deepening the Relationship I don’t call this “religion” it is a deep, meaningful relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Building on the incredible foundation laid this past year, here is my mandate for the next chapter:

✝️ I am launching a new, one-year structured study plan focused entirely on the New Testament, with the goal of encouraging others to take up the challenge themselves. The New Testament contains 260 chapters, so the plan is to dedicate one chapter per day, Monday through Friday, for 52 weeks. This deliberate, chapter-by-chapter pace is designed to build a profound understanding, allowing you to fully explore and “peel back the layers” of the scripture.

👂To maximize comprehension and application, I suggest using the…H.E.A.R. journaling method for each chapter:

H. Highlight: Select a key verse.

E. Explain: Interpret the verse in its context.

A: Apply: How the verse relates to my current life

R: Respond: Write a prayer or personal commitment based on the application.I have used this method for the last year it works fantastic!

📖 As it says in Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

📢 Expanding the C.O.P.E. Ministry’s ReachWe are actively working to expand the mandate of the C.O.P.E. Ministry. A core focus will be the recruitment of additional volunteers to bolster our efforts in street evangelism and community outreach. Our primary goal is to achieve comprehensive coverage by expanding across the entire District.

🙏 Be Led by The Spirit: Above all, I will be surrendering to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, ready to go and do whatever He commands next.If God can radically transform a person like me—from a life of addiction, violence, and 20 years of chronic pain to a life of service—He can do it for anyone.
