The Pillars of Faith: Moses
The Deliverer and the Lawgiver
”By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.” — Hebrews 11:27
Who Was Moses?
Moses was a man of two worlds. Born a Hebrew slave, raised as an Egyptian prince, and refined as a humble shepherd in the desert. He was the man God chose to face the most powerful empire on earth to lead His people to freedom.
The Divine Purpose
- The Deliverance: Through the Ten Plagues and the parting of the Red Sea, Moses showed that no power on earth can hold back God’s people when it is time for their liberation.
- The Law: On Mount Sinai, Moses received the Ten Commandments, providing a moral compass for a new nation and a mirror for our need for grace.
- The Intercessor: Moses stood in the gap for a struggling, often rebellious people, pleading for God’s mercy on their behalf.
The COPE Perspective: From the Desert to Deliverance
Moses is the ultimate example of a “second chance.” He was a fugitive with a checkered past who thought his life was over in the desert. But God met him in a burning bush and told him he was the right man for the job.
“Nobody is too far gone” applies perfectly to Moses. Whether you are hiding in a “desert” of your own making or feel unqualified to lead, Moses proves that God can use your stutter, your past, and your fears to do the impossible.
